Don't Listen What They Say (or Write) Watch What They Do

The San Benito Health District's home page is all about transparency. Writing (or saying) that does not make it so. CEO PAY Does anyone know how much the chief executive officer makes? A public records request was put in place to request the salary of the chief executive officer. Read about it here. THE BOARD DOESN'T ACTUALLY MEET Have you ever been to a board meeting of any entity, and seen board members not talk, at all, other than to convene to closed session? That's par for the course at Hazel Hawkins Hospital. PUBLIC RECORDS Ask for a copy of invoices received from their financial advisors. They will send them to you with all the activity completely redacted, with the explanation that they are subject to attorney-client priviledge. A check of the agreement between the financial advisors and Hazel Hawkins Hospital reflects that B. Riley is for financial advisory services and not legal services, so how their invoices be subject to attorney-client priviledge? Scroll below to see how helpful redacted invoices are. ARE MEETINGS BEING HELD IN SECRET? Consider the board agenda to the left. Item 2B reflects the formation of a temporary advisory commitee and indicates President Hernadez and Member Johnson are to be on the committee. When did the Board appoint those members? When an explanation was requested, a board member suggested that it was being brought forth by those 2 members. Then why is their a column that indicates that Board President Hernandez is presenting the proposal? This is just another indication that meetings between members are occurring behind the scenes and explains while the board members rarely participate in open session meetings. IS THAT ATTORNEY REPRESENTING AAMG OR THE HOSPITAL? It was unclear if an attorney promting AAMG's letter of intent was representing AAMG or the Hospital. When a member of the audience asked during the public comment period, the Board and counsel continously refused to answer. Eventually they did, but that make it sound as if the public should not know.
